New full-time Japanese management program to launch in Singapore
The Center for Japanese Business & Management Studies, a subsidiary of leading Japanese education services provider Nihongo Bashi, is offering a full-time Post Graduate (PG) program in Japanese management.
Approved by the Ministry of Education, the course is slated to commence in Singapore on March 22, 2007
The Program is specifically designed for students from the ASEAN nations and South Asia to capitalize on the exciting career opportunities presented by the growing economic engagement with Japan. Forging successful business relationships with the Japanese requires a strong combination of the right technical skills, proficiency in the Japanese language, a deep knowledge of Japanese business philosophy and a strong appreciation of and sensitivity to the culture and etiquette. The program aims to equip professionals with precisely this combination of technical and 'soft skills' that is a pre-requisite for a rewarding Japan-connected career.
The Program will be taught by a faculty comprising renowned professionals with considerable experience of living, working and even teaching in Japan.
By attending this course in Singapore, students will not only get a feel of the country's excellent education infrastructure and business-friendly environment but also provide them ample exposure to Japanese businesses, many of which have huge operations in Singapore. In fact, several Japanese companies use Singapore as a launching pad for penetrating new markets in South Asia and the ASEAN.
Duration & course content:
The PG Program in Japanese Management will be completed in 15 months spread over two regular terms, inclusive of program work and dissertation.
- JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) Level 4, 3 and 2 language courses
- JLPT language tutorials courses
- Software technology concepts
- Fundamentals of business management
In the 2nd semester, the student will be required to take three faculty-directed seminars. Each seminar is supervised and designed by a faculty member, focusing on a topic in the discipline and meets 16 hours per week for 2 weeks.
Topics for the faculty-directed seminars will include:
- Understand the cultural perspective in business, social and informal interaction
- Gain knowledge of differences in Accounting, Legal, HR practices between Japan and rest of the world
- Understand the approach of managing teams in Japan and the concept of "Nemawashi"
- Understanding the economic partnership between rest of Asia and Japan - an overview of opportunities in different sectors
Eligibility criteria for admission and graduation
The post graduate (PG) Program in Japanese Management is open to candidates with a degree/professional qualification (English as the medium of instruction) with an excellent academic track record. Work experience is preferred though not mandatory.
Eligible candidates would be required to undergo an entrance test followed by a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
To graduate from the program, students will require:
- At least 70% marks in the examination
- At least 95% attendance
- t least 80% marks in language tutorials
Course fees and important dates
The total course fee is SG$16,250, which includes Registration, Student Pass, Medical Examination Fees, Course Fee Insurance and Local Tax.
