A well-rounded curriculum for holistic Japanese education

On a full-time basis, the program is designed to be completed in 12 months with program work and dissertation spread over two regular terms.

The following foundation courses will be covered in the 1st semester:

• Management & Behavioural Process
• Human Resource Management
• Financial Accounting
• Internship
• Business Communication
• JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) Level 4 and 3 courses

The classes for JLPT language course are scheduled at 12 hours per week, Business Communication, Management & Behavioural, HR Management and Financial accounting courses each meet 4 hours per week.

In the 2nd semester, the student will be required to take the following modules.

• Business Japanese Practices & Methods
• Management Accounting
• Japanese Management Techniques
• Customer Relationship Management
• Total Quality Management
• International Business

To graduate from the program, students will require:

• At least 70% marks in examination
• At least 95% attendance
• At least 80% marks in language tutorials

JLPT Level 2: Attaining proficiency in Japanese language

• JLPT Level 2 proficiency course as per Japan Foundations' recommendation
• JETRO Business Test J2
• Knowledge of over 6,000 words
• Knowledge of Hiragana & Katakana (both reading & writing)
• Knowledge of over 1,000 Kanjis
• Knowledge of telephone and business Japanese
• Familiarity with software industry's project environment with software terminology
• Knowledge of Japanese language skills for the software industry

Business Communication: Practicals and business skills

• Business and telephone Japanese
• Presentation skills
• Comprehension skills using audio tapes
• Role plays

Fundamentals of Business Management

Understand the cultural perspective in business, social and informal interaction under the following heads each of which is of 2 hours duration

Industry lecture - Exchanging ideas with thought leaders from Industry

Dissertation- Every student is required to work on a project in the area of Japanese management and prepare a dissertation following research methodology under the supervision or recognized guide. Prior to the actual work, the students are required to submit a synopsis of the dissertation incorporating the statement of problem, objectives and methodology to be followed and submit the same to the Faculty guide in the respective college. The dissertation may be in the nature of a case study, macro study or freelance study on a problem pertaining to Japanese Management.
